In July 2003 Inpectional Services of Boston closed the doors of the Berwick citing fire-code violations and falsely claiming it was running an illegal nightclub. Beyond interrupting my residency, it also effected all the other artists using the space, residents of the building, and the scheduled programming of the Berwick. I likened it to bees transforming their hive to ensure the survival of the colony. I took the opportunity to be a witness and participant in the transformation as part of my residency, the radio aspect was obviously put on hold. These photos document the transformation of the space and its use, as well as the dedication of members and friends to preserve the Institute and what it means to the art community of Boston.
